Hi there

We (me, Sanna+ our dog) are coming to Jamboree and decided that we could do a 2-2,5 day road trip around south Norway before we go to the Jamboree. So I decided to ask if some of you could give us some ideas where to drive and go. We are coming from Stockholm so after that we planned to drive straight to Norway and hope to be on Norway or at least close to border at Monday 2. of July at evening. But at tuesday, wednesdey and part of the thursday is still open for ideas where to drive.

We both like scenery, water etc. So we are not looking up the biggest disco or most high tech city;)

So gimme ideas where to go in southern Norway and what roads to use.

Thanks:):):):)

When you are between Kristiansand and Manda, you will find a resting plase called KNUDEN

You should go to Rjukan - where you can find:
- Very facinating scenery in itselv - deep caynion-like vally surrounded by very steep mountains.
- Vemork museum - which also is a great scenery in itself, but also a very good presentation of some war-history and some industrial history of the powerstation. At Vermork you may also do a Bungee Jump from the bridge - 84m to the bottom of the gorge!! (link (http://www2.tellus.no/tellus/db.dll?PR=75_55_1&sp=GB&icp=rjukan/prodpres&dv_header=&dv_footer=))
- Gaustadtoppen is a very accesible mountain (1883m) with an unique view (from the top you can see 1/6 of Norway if the weather is optimal). You can walk to the top (2-2,5 hours from parking spot), og use comercial transport.
Check out: www.visitrjukan.com
Rjukan is about 170km from Oslo, and further about 200km onwards to the Jamboree.

Going onwards to the Pirate Jamboree is also a nice drive (maby ok to split over 2 days), and on the way you still can visit the above mentioned "Telemarks Kanalen."

Pass a PM to me if you would like a route suggestion, with nice camps etc.

For 2 and a half day, I would say it's a long way. I would give you most of the time on road, and not very much to enjoy sites along the journey - other than what you will need to sleep.
However - there is plenty to see there also, Specially Lysebotn and Northsea road as Pål mentioned. Really not to miss out if going for the long ride!

Diesel price is NOK 9,50 - 10, or in EUR approx 1,20/Litre.
